We assist with the steps required for foreign recognition and, where applicable, enforcement.

The most important questions — with clear, concise answers

As a general rule, yes — but with our power of attorney and your participation in one or two online hearings, we handle every legal step on your behalf.

It depends — but in many cases, Hungary is a viable option. We help you determine the exact jurisdiction.

Recognition abroad depends on the rules of the specific country. Many jurisdictions require a certified translation, while others may ask for an apostille or an additional local procedure. We help you understand what applies in your case.

In that case, we proceed through litigation and firmly represent your interests.

If the other parent takes the child abroad permanently without your consent, international proceedings may be initiated before the Hungarian authorities to secure the child’s prompt return.

Generally, there is no obstacle to this, provided the agreement meets Hungarian formal requirements and its provisions do not conflict with Hungarian law.

In the case of a mutual agreement, the lawsuit may conclude in just one hearing. However, if parental custody or child maintenance is contested, significantly longer proceedings should be expected.

No, the court handles the dissolution of the marriage and the division of property in separate proceedings.

If a written agreement is reached and countersigned by an attorney, court approval is not required.

The child is given the opportunity to be heard by the court. The opinion of children over the age of 14 may carry significant weight in the proceedings. However, the final decision is made by the court, not the child.
